Organisation

I would be the first to admit that organisation, logic and efficient methodology are not my strong points, except when it comes to preparing children's choirs for performance. Fabric may be easier to corral and stay put but somehow children are easier to organise ... or perhaps they organise me?

So I pulled out this old folder of my sister's and put in all the notes and design books to do with HecketyBlue in the hopes that keeping my notes together would lead to increased efficiency. Hmmm, we will see.

Today I have been working on sewing tote bags for the shop, using patchwork project leftovers for the pockets as a bit of an eye-catcher. I used some lovely warm brown cotton to edge the pockets and then had a sudden fear that, being vintage fabric, it might not be colourfast. So into the machine it went and I hope everything else doesn't come out with a brown tinge. Still, better the mishap before it is sold rather than ruin a customer's laundry, yes?

I have been listening to all sorts of old CDs lately, Christmas music, my Dad's music, CDs which had slid to the back of the shelf, ones I had forgotten I had. So I thought, just for fun, I would include a soundtrack for the day when something was particularly enjoyable. Today it has been extracts from Bizet's 'Carmen', especially the March of the Toreadors and Rachmaninov's Piano Concerto No. 2. Doncha love a bit of get-up-and-go music followed by some virtuoso piano playing? I will not say I wish I could play the piano like that as I am far too lazy.

So organisation and tote bags to the tune of Carmen!
