Reminding (actually Relearning)
This afternoon was spent reminding myself of the importance of good product photos for my Etsy shop.
Firstly I rigged up the mobile studio, discovering in the process that the white sheet for the background had obviously leant against something rusty and was not quite as white as I supposed. Some canny tweaking and folding ensued (to be followed by visiting a bucket of bleach).
Then I remembered, after dropping an orange on my foot and a tin of beans on the floor (luckily not vice versa) that it is best to put down the camera between photos and do the arranging with two hands. It saves both the toes and possible mishaps with the camera.
For a short while things went quite smoothly and then a huge black cloud obscured the light. Repositioned the desk lamp, extended extension cable, caught the cd player as it went flying, and back to the photos.
I remembered how to upload from camera to laptop onto but then came a further session of reminding; it has been so long since I used Lightroom that it took me ages to do every little edit, from trying to remember how to save Presets, to remembering to export the finished photos with watermark and copyright data. The functionality of this user is as rusty as the white sheet.
What I am trying to say is that two hours work took about five hours, and even now I am not entirely certain that I did a very good job! Still, the shop of HecketyBlue now has five items in it and hopefully the next session will go much more smoothly.
