A Quote
James Joyce wrote many quotable lines, some best taken in context, some which make sense out of context. I think this is from his short story 'The Dead', and if you have read 'The Dubliners' it will make contextual sense. Here he is not speaking of his own death but possible literary immorality?
Certainly I do not have unfailing confidence in my own abilities, or possible immortality, but I do think that the sentiment of glorious passion for an idea or project is useful and inspiring. Many of us could achieve that alone!
